At Athens Clinic, our support groups offer more than just meetings—they create meaningful connections, accountability, and a shared sense of purpose. When people come together to share struggles and victories, healing accelerates, and hope grows stronger. Each group is designed to meet the unique needs of our patients, fostering growth through trust, compassion, and community.

Our support groups provide safe, supportive environments to aid recovery.

Men’s Group

A social gathering that provides a supportive and safe space for shared experiences, personal growth, and building relationships. Members can hold each other accountable for their goals and challenge each other, while focusing on their own timeline in recovery.

Our Wednesday group is a non-judgmental gathering of peers with common experiences or concerns who support one another with strength and hope. The sense of community that this group provides is essential for increasing feelings of belonging, understanding, and connection for people in the recovery process.

A detailed informative group on the protocols, requirements and rules that Athens Clinic abides by. Knowledge on overdose prevention and how to safely utilize Narcan is also widely highlighted.

A support group where individuals who are experiencing grief or loss in any form, can come together to share their experiences, emotions, responses, and coping strategies in a safe and supportive environment. Benefits of attendance can include reduced isolation, increased self-awareness, skill building, and continued emotional support while also decreasing negative effects in the recovery process.

Financial Group

This educational group offers informative and structured materials to help increase financial literacy and financial outcomes for members. This group can foster a sense of belonging and connection, which can be particularly valuable for individuals facing financial challenges.

A support group of peers that help one another identify triggers, warning signs and temptations for making choices that may not be congruent for their recovery stage. This group provokes cognitive reconstruction and thinking strategies that can help individuals avoid setbacks.

This group provides a platform for individuals experiencing chronic or acute pain, to feel more understood and less alone. This group also focuses on educational material regarding prescription medications, dangers of potential negative interactions of certain medications, and the overall importance of medication compliance. Information sharing, connecting with others, learning alternative and healthy coping strategies to battle ongoing physical pain is an important aspect of sustained recovery.

Women heal best in community. In this group-created by women, for women-provides a space to do just that. Through activities, open discussions, and shared wisdom, we will grow stronger together in recovery and in relationships.

Growing Together

This group is designed to help individuals understand family units and functions, while helping participants gain insight on healthier relationships, improve parenting skills and develop a deeper understanding of family dynamics. The goal of this support group is to encourage participants to incorporate healthy communications with family members while utilizing group connection and support as examples.

This support group serves as part educational and part personal assessment of detox readiness. Safely tapering dosage down to successfully complete the detox process is important and is impacted by individual differences. This group offers learning opportunities surrounding the benefits, potential difficulties, and the help available after detox is completed.

If you have ever been interested in learning how to give back and possibly help in your community and earn credentials, this group is for you. The basis of this group can help you prepare for the Certified Peer Specialist application. Certain requirements are mandatory.

A therapeutic group designed to help individuals in MAT treatment reduce stress, build recovery skills, and express themselves creatively in a support environment. Through guided activities such as painting, drawing, and crafting, this group fosters mindfulness, stress reduction, and self-reflection while encouraging connection and personal growth in recovery.
